Six members of MHS have completed online certification in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) through FEMA. This program is encouraged by the Dawson Education Cooperative and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management. Members from both entities presented the certified students and staff with CERT bags containing over $140 worth of supplies to aid in the event of a small emergency. In attendance were Gary Ragen and Cecil McGee (ADEM), Tommie Rogers (Dawson), Judge Eddie Howard, and Lee Vincent (Pike County Emergency Management). The MHS CERT team is one of the first in the Dawson Cooperative and one of thirteen schools in the whole state to have completed this course and received the CERT bags. We are excited to give a career-ready experience to these students, while creating a knowledge within our students.
