SPCSD Covid-19 Update........
On Tuesday, Feb 1st, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced changes to the ArkansasDepartment of Health Guidelines for contact tracing and quarantine of students deemed probable close contacts. The changes removed the state directive of contact tracing and the quarantine of students determined to be a probable close contact.
Effective immediately, the South Pike County School District will no longer conduct contact tracing or identify students who are probable close contacts. We will continue to follow Arkansas Department of Health and Education guidelines for those who test positive for Covid -19 or who are symptomatic.
According to guidelines from the ADH, Isolation is required for anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. This person is required to stay home for at least 5 days. If they have no symptoms or their symptoms are resolving after 5 days, they can return to school and wear a mask around others through the 10th day of isolation. Those with a fever and significant symptoms should remain at home until the fever is gone for 24 hours without medication. Please contact our POC, Tanya Wilcher, if your child tests positive for COVID-19.
SPCSD wants everyone to be careful traveling today. Buses are running but will be taking extra precautions and may be running a little late. We want everyone to do the same and tardiness will not be held against students today. School is open but safety is first. Be safe and stay warm!
